🎶 Fergus Ewing no more…
Fergus Ewing got a fair trial - just the same as any Australian marsupial would get. And the SNazi Justice Minister was there to prove it…!
Tumblr media
Startling scene in the night sky over Edinburgh as the open warfare inside the SNP is visible for miles around…

i'll always prefer manga canon banana fish bc i think setting it in the 80s means there are a lot of things present that add to the story that are absent when it's set in the 2010s (homoerotic 80s action movie outfits, griffin being implied to have been drafted vs joining the military by choice, general lack of cell phones or computers usable by the general public, etc) but i think there's something to be explored in the idea that ash is going through all this during the AIDS crisis AND the satanic panic. like obviously there would be fallout in the 2010s but we get like two pages in the manga about the government's reaction to dino's operation being exposed and like. oh my god it would be fucking insane. it would be so much more fucking insane than we ever see
like i think yoshida made a very conscious decision to avoid mentioning any real politicians so the president is kind of this like. nebulous fictionalized US President character but like. imagine if it was fucking Reagan denouncing a pederasty ring with ties to the republican party. like. what even.
ash makes like one mention of "if i had [an STD] it would have spread through half of congress" and that hits like a ton of bricks. there were already cases of right-wing politicians found to be HIV+ from presumably consensual gay sex, imagine the added wrinkle of credible connections between the US government and a gay child trafficking ring. like. oh my god being gay in the banana fish universe would suck even more absolute shit

Okay, but, imagining Clark Kent and Lois Lane, ace reporters, being in charge of moderating the presidential debate is fucking hilarious.
Like—it’s a shit show from the beginning. Lois is too much of a boss bitch to allow anyone to talk over her and you bet her ass she’s turning off the mic the MOMENT one of the presidential nominees goes over their time limit or tries to interrupt her.
She also religiously fact checks both parties right in the middle of their rebuttals, and it gets so bad that she actually ends up debating both the nominees at one time. Total chaos. No one has any idea where she stands politically because she’s just arguing with everyone and calling out the BS on both sides of the aisle.
And then there’s Clark.
Clark, who, don’t you forget, is actually a damn good reporter. (You don’t skip that much work without getting fired if you aren’t just fucking spectacular at your job, this guy’s got to be like the Kobe Bryant of reporting.) Even though he’s not entirely sure that he should be moderating a presidential debate (he’s technically an immigrant and has, technically, been illegally voting in elections since 2008), he ends up doing very well.
Clark asks a lot of insightful and relevant questions, but gets so irritated when neither of the candidates actually answer the damn question that he has to take a five minute break to keep from burning the studio down with his heat vision. He’s also not as effective as one would think at corralling Lois, which means she spends half the night drilling into these presidential candidates while Clark is in the background trying very hard not to loose his shit.
The debate ends with two thoroughly angered politicians, an indictment by FOX news, a cease and desist from CNN, a formal twitter apology from the Daily Planet, and two very pissed off (but patriotic) reporters.

Mike Johnson Withdraws Government Funding Bill, Which Includes SAVE Act Just Hours Before Scheduled Vote
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the reality is that Johnson and his ilk have no intention of “getting there.”
Instead, they are content with playing politics and continuing the endless cycle of appeasement that has defined the GOP establishment for far too long.
Despite the clear urgency from Trump and his supporters, Johnson pulled his six-month stopgap funding plan after it became clear that opposition from both Democrats and a handful of spineless Republicans would derail the bill. At least eight House Republicans have already come out against the bill, all but ensuring its failure, according to CNN.
“No vote today,” Johnson told reporters, signaling yet another defeat for conservatives hoping for real change in Washington.
“We are having thoughtful conversations, family conversations within the Republican Conference and I believe we will get there,” he added.
“I want any member of Congress in either party to explain to the American people why we should not ensure that only US citizens are voting in US elections … It’s the most pressing issue right now, and we’re going to get this job done.”
But the reality is that Johnson and his ilk have no intention of “getting there.”
Instead, they are content with playing politics and continuing the endless cycle of appeasement that has defined the GOP establishment for far too long.
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), one of the few voices still willing to speak truth to power, blasted Johnson and GOP leadership on Tuesday for orchestrating what she called a “fake fight” in Washington.
Greene rightly pointed out that the RINOs had no real intention of seeing this bill through and were more interested in appeasing their left-wing colleagues than standing up for the American people.
"The worst thing that Republicans in the House can do is create a fake fight that the base knows they’re lying about and frustrate our voters going in on November fifth,” Greene said. “That’s how you lose the House of Representatives,” Greene said.
“Just be honest. If [Johnson] already aligned himself with the Democrats back in May, did a two-part omnibus, just be honest and do what he’s going to do. But don’t have Conservatives like me that actually care about reducing our spending, that actually care about making changes, that actually care about doing the right thing for the American people, don’t make people like me go out and pretend like we’re fighting for something, because I’m not going to have any part of it.”

In the news this weekend: Donald Trump referred to Jan. 6 defendants as “hostages;” refused to swear to not advocate for the overthrow the US government (a routine oath for Illinois Presidential candidates); claimed that Lincoln could have negotiated to avoid the Civil War but didn’t because of ego; and said magnets don’t work underwater.
OK grandpa let’s get you to bed.

It is fucking WILD to me how fast Rashida Tlaib got censured while Matt Gaetz gets to run his fucking mouth about every little thing despite the SEX TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION he is still under, with a seventeen year old girl no less.

But Biden is guilty of worse only he's not mentally competent to stand trial. And Obama is guilty of at least the same but you're a racist if you notice...
"Hypocrisy is not an argument," snowflakes.
“The average US president has been charged with 1.54 felonies” factoid isn’t true. The average US President has been charged with 0 felonies. Donald trump, who has been charged with 71, is a statistical outlier and should not have been counted
